Buttons to the Max

This innovative chair is inspired by the wooden button we know from the clothing industry. The two buttons – made of solid oak – are strung together by magnified carbon fibre yarn to form the seat and backrest of the chair. The yarn is traditionally manufactured by hand and impregnated with epoxy, dictating the exceptional construction of the chair.

Innovation and Heritage combined

For the realization of knappe buttons, a close cooperation between designer and manufacturer was required. The very traditional way in which rope is produced seems to sharply contrast with the rather modern, high-tech reputation carbon fibre has acquired. lt is however, precisely this unlikely combination that adds a whole new dimension to this ancient craft.

Designed for Humans

The button chair caters a slightly curved seat and backrest, both elements carefully carved from solid oak. To obtain a smooth surface and make the chair more comfortable, the carbon fiber yarn runs through a cleverly shaped recess in both the seat and backrest.

Natural Oak

The buttons are created from solid oak, providing a lovely natural contrast with the vintage yet high-end appearance of the carbon fiber yarn. All chairs are made by hand, creating slight differences between each item.

Button Chair

A surprising, fresh and modern take on traditional production techniques, resulting in a real eye-catcher.
